The Designers

Jack Nicklaus joins forces with Tony Jacklin to design The Concession Golf Course, a course that promises to become as legendary as Nicklaus and Jacklin themselves.

Jack Nicklaus

No name is more synonymous with greatness in the sport of golf than the name Jack Nicklaus, and no single person has changed the face of the sport more than Jack Nicklaus – the player, the designer, and the good-will ambassador.

Nicklaus is widely considered the “Golfer of the Century” or “Golfer of the Millennium,” and among the greatest athletes of the 20th century. The legacy Nicklaus has left as a player can be rivaled only by the legacy he is leaving as a golf-course designer.

In 1993, Nicklaus was named GolfWorld’s Architect of the Year, and in 1999, Golf Digest named him the world’s leading active designer. In February 2005, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America recognized Jack with its highest honor, The Old Tom Morris Award.

Jack has been involved in the design of over 250 courses open for play worldwide. Nicklaus Design courses are represented in 29 countries, 38 states, and by the end of 2006, at least 79 of them will have hosted a combined total of over 500 professional tournaments or national amateur championships. At least 48 Nicklaus courses have appeared in various national and international Top-100 lists.

Tony Jacklin, C.B.E.(Commander of the British Empire)

An internationally revered golf icon, Tony Jacklin made his mark in the golf universe as the 1969 British Open Champion, 1970 U.S. Open Champion and four-time Captain of the European Ryder Cup Team. In recent years, Jacklin, an Honorary Life President of the British PGA and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, has devoted an increasing amount of time to designing championship golf courses.

As a golf course architect, Jacklin has used his vast playing experience at thousands of courses around the world to formulate his design philosophy. Among Jacklin’s designs are the Klassis Resort course in Istanbul, Turkey; San Roque Golf Club in Spain, a co-design with Dave Thomas; and a nine-hole short course in Gurnsey in the Channel Islands.
